Easter Egg Hunt at Esther Short Park

Easter Egg Hunt Vancouver WA

When: March 31, 10-11 a.m.

Where: Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St., Vancouver

Cost: Free

Activate Church will be presenting a free Easter egg hunt at Esther Short Park the day before Easter, with more than 15,000 eggs. There will be three time slots for various ages: Up to the three years will start at 10 a.m., children four to six or with special needs will start at 10:20 a.m., and seven and over will begin at 10:40 a.m. There will also be face painting, balloon animals, a bouncy house and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Clark County Quilt Show

When: April 5-7 – Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday & Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 NE Delfel Rd, Ridgefield

Cost: $7, $12 3-day pass, under 12 free, $6 parking

In addition to more than 300 quilts, the 43rd Annual Quilt Show will feature vendors, special exhibits, demonstrations, and more. Quilts made from wedding dresses, denim, and many other materials will be on display. A group of 90 UNESCO World Heritage quilts will also be on hand, including works from the United States, Japan, and South Korea.

Klineline Kids Fishing Derby Vancouver WA

Klineline Kids Fishing Derby

When: April 13-14, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Where: Salmon Creek Park/Klineline Pond, 1112 NE 117th St, Vancouver

Cost: $5

With anywhere from 8,000 to 10,000 people expected over the two day event, the Derby will provide kids the chance to get outside, learn about their surrounding environment, and do a little fishing. Presented by Klineline Kids Fishing, the Friday event will be dedicated to special needs kids and adults alike, while Saturday will open for other children, ages five to 14. Groups will fish in 45 minute increments throughout the day.

To register, be at the park 30 minutes before the event starts. In addition to receiving a fishing rod, reel, and t-shirt, prizes will be awarded for the largest and smallest fish caught. Educational kiosks, archery range, and other activities will be available as well.

Storm City vs. Gorge Rollers Girls

When: April 7, 6-8 p.m.

Where: Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 NE Delfel Rd, Ridgefield

Cost: $12 ($6 for parking, cash only)

When Kicky Longstocking, Betty Plague, and MC Slammer lace ‘em up to take on Slamboni, Malice Alice, and Kung Fu Lou, you know your Saturday evening is already spoken for. The local Storm City Rollers will play host to the Hood River Gorge Rollers and while you’ll pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge.

From the Storm City website: “Storm City Roller Girls is a flat track derby league located in Clark County, Washington, that is committed to promoting the empowerment of women of all races, national origins, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and body types by creating positive athletic role models and a community-based sport for those of all skill levels.

Spring Brewfest Vancouver WA

Spring Brewfest

When: April 13 (4-10 p.m.) and April 14 (12-9 p.m.)

Where: Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St., Vancouver

Cost: $10-$20

Kick off spring in sudsy style as local brewers present their wares. This is the first gathering of the year for Vancouver Brewfest, followed by summer and fall events. These are fundraisers that help support many local charities, including Northwest Battle Buddies, Second Chance Companions, and the local Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. With close to 100 craft beers on hand, you’re sure to find something you like. A variety of food will also be available.
